Hope Within the Family
As we live in a world where there is a disintegration of the family and family values, we need those who are brave enough to make a stand, to spark knowledge and hope for those all over the world. My purpose in this post is not to discriminate those who have different beliefs and opinions, but to teach with love and be an advocate for our Savior Jesus Christ. In The Family: A Proclamation to the World, it clearly states, “WE, THE FIRST PRESIDENCY and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.” By God’s divine law, marriage is only to be between and man and a woman, which is contrary to popular opinion in today’s society. I don’t know why people have to struggle with same-sex attraction, but I do know that God is our Father and loves ALL of His children. We are to put our faith and trust in Him, for God’s law is higher than man’s law.
Families are central to our Heavenly Fathers plan of happiness and are foundational to our Nation and society. God has bestowed the procreative powers only between a man and a woman within the bonds of marriage. Though it is widely taught within our society that it is okay to live together before marriage, sleep around night after night with, “no strings attached,” or even have kids with one or multiple people, this is not what God teaches. If you think that you can participate in any of these actions with no real consequence, then you are sadly mistaken. Elder Holland taught, “When one toys with the God-given . . . body of another, he or she toys with the very soul of that individual, toys with the central purpose and product of life.” (Jeffrey R. Holland, “Of Souls, Symbols, and Sacraments,” Deseret Book, Salt Lake City 2001) All of us want to have a happy, healthy marriage and family but we do not get there by skipping steps in the process. Pleasure seeking now can jeopardize the success of our future family.
Now if we have fallen guilty to any of these sins, don’t give up, there is hope for you. We can be forgiven through Jesus Christ and His Atoning sacrifice. Christ suffered for each one of us and took upon Himself our sins. If we come unto Him and repent of our transgressions, we can be saved and healed. This is part of our Heavenly Fathers great plan of happiness. I know that Christ lives today and that only through Him can we be forgiven and one day live with God again. I know that marriage between and man and a woman is ordained of God, and I know that families created within the bonds of marriage have the greatest potential for growth and happiness within our lives.
